Yes! debuts updated Roadster at Leipzig Motor Show

Built in Germany by Funke and Will AG, the hand built Yes! Roadster is something of a mini-supercar. Introduced at the 2003 Frankfurt show, the Roadster shows off its 2006 mechanical systems upgrades at this year's Leipzig auto show.

Weighing it at less than 2,200 lb, the Yes! Roadster is bound to provide sparkling performance regardless of the powerplant, but the second-generation model takes no chances, sporting Audi's 3.2-liter V6 in either normally-aspirated or turbo versions. The turbo pumps out 355 hp and about 360 lb-ft of torque, good for 0-62 mph in 3.69 seconds. For the truly power hungry, Yes! plans an option kit for the turbo model to boost output by an additional 30 hp. The mid-engine Yes! Roadster drives the rear wheels through a six-speed box. Prices start at about $72,000.

Looking a bit like a cross between Toyota's last version of the MR2 and Audi's TT, the styling of Germany's answer to the Lotus lightweight performance theme may not appeal to everyone, but for a small sports car, performance always comes first, and the Yes! pocket rocket looks like it will certainly deliver.
