The main concern with cross country rallies is usually reckless driving at triple digit speeds. However, with the ever-increasing concerns over the environmental impact of cars, it was only a matter of time before someone raised concerns over 200 or so supercars traveling 3,000 miles with single digit fuel mileage. ABC News did, and calculated that the 200 cars in the rally generate nearly 650,000 pounds of CO2. To get an idea of how much that is, the Union of Concerned Scientists states the average American generates approximately 40,000 pounds of CO2 in an entire year.
