Kimball Puts USA Entry Ninth on A1GP Zandvoort Grid - Hot News -

Zandvoort, The Netherlands. Oct. 4, 2008 - Andretti Green Racing driver Charlie Kimball turned a best-lap speed of 1:26.039 seconds to grab the ninth starting position for tomorrow's running of the A1GP Zandvoort at Circuit Park Zandvoort. The Zandvoort event is a non-points paying meet and marks the start of A1GP World Cup of Motorsports Season Four. Sunday's sprint race begins at 5 a.m. (EDT) and the feature starts 9 a.m. (EDT).

Charlie Kimball, Andretti Green Racing, Team USA: "Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with qualifying. We missed the first practice session this morning because we had to wait on some parts and things to get the car back together and ready to go. But, the second session went really well. We ended up fourth quickest and I think that's about where our pace is right now. "In qualifying, I caught a little bit of traffic on my first new tire run, so that hurt me time-wise and then we caught a red flag. On the second new set, we went out and about halfway around before I started my hot lap we caught another red flag. So, when we went back out to try to get our time, the tires really had an extra lap on them and that was just enough to take the edge of the newness off of them. That cost us a little bit, which was pretty disappointing. "But, from ninth, there is everything to play for. Between the reliability of some of the cars and people getting off course, we have a good shot. It's going to be about survival and attrition in the first race. From there, I won't rule out a podium with a clean second race, especially with the pit stops. I think these AGR guys are probably some of the best on the pit lane and that should work to our advantage. "All in all, it's been a good day. Things are going really. The crew is doing an awesome job. I can't commend the AGR guys enough. They're rocking. They're probably working on about six hours of sleep this week and they're still just having a blast and doing a great job."
